Sixty nominations filed in UP for LS polls

Lucknow: Sixty nominations were filed for 17 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh, which will go to polls in the second phase of elections on April 23.

"Total 60 nominations were filed on the fourth day of nominations for the second phase. With this, a total of 129 nominations have been filed so far," Additional Chief Electoral Officer Amrit Abhijaat told reporters here.

Prominent candidates to file their nominations included Sanjay Singh (Congress) for Sultanpur seat, Revati Raman Singh (SP) and Ashok Bajpai (BSP) for Allahabad, Lallu Singh (BJP)-Faizabad, Vinay Katiyar (BJP)- Ambedkarnagar.

The maximum number of nominations were filed for Basti seat with seven nominations, followed by six nominations for Gonda.

Five nominations were filed for Amethi parliamentary constituency and four for Sultanpur seat.
