Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Congress said former minister Maya Kodnani, who is presently in police custody in connection with the 2002 post-Godhra riot cases, is hesitating to reveal names of "real people" responsible for her arrest.

Earlier in the day, Kodnani, an accused in Naroda Gam and Naroda Patiya cases, claimed that the inquiry against her by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is politically motivated by the Congress.

"Kodnani's reaction indicates that she is hesitating to name the real people behind the conspiracy (responsible for sending her to jail) and that is why she is blaming Congress," state Congress president Siddharth Patel told said here.

"The SIT, probing some of the post Godhra riots cases afresh, was constituted by the Supreme Court. The selection of officers to SIT was done by the Gujarat government," he said.

"The affidavit against Kodnani in the Sessions and High Court was filed by the state government. Also her anticipatory bail was cancelled after Gujarat government's petition in High Court," Patel added.

"Where does Congress have a hand in this. All has been done by the Gujarat government," he added.

Kodnani had resigned from the post of state minister after Gujarat High Court canceled her and co-accused Jaideep Patel's anticipatory bail last week.
