Chandigarh: Congress MP and industrialistNavin Jindal today said he has forgiven the teacher who hurleda shoe at him here even as his party termed the incident as"bad for democracy" and sought Election Commission's action.
"I pardon the man as he is too old. But proper actionmust be taken against him," Jindal said, adding "it was awrong step taken by the retired teacher. In a peaceful societynobody has the right to do such things."
He said that "the man was completely drunk and I havenothing against him as he didn't harm me".
The Congress MP alleged that the teacher -- Rajmal SinghSaharan -- is of bad character as earlier also he wassuspended from school for misbehaving with a girl.
Jindal, who is contesting from Kurukshetra, did not ruleout a conspiracy behind the incident and said that "the shoewas caught on cameras from the time it was thrown till it fellon the ground. It smacks of a conspiracy by someone."
"The incident is bad for democracy. The ElectionCommission should take cognisance of the incident and initiateaction," Congress general secretary and in charge of party'sHaryana affairs Prithviraj Chavan said reacting to theshoe-throwing incident here. |
