BHAWANIPATNA/PARALAKHEMUNDI, April 9 : “Aj Basanti ki ijjat ka sawal hai,” said the glamour girl of Hindi cinema Hema Malini while calling upon the people to vote for BJP, today. The “dream girl” said that it is her dream to see Mr LK Advani as the Prime Minister of India.
However, this "Basanti" landed in a chopper at the venues of the public meetings in the state in stead of the proverbial tanga.
She addressed election meetings of her party at in Narla in Kalahandi district, Ramagiri village in R Udayagiri block of Gajapati district and Jatani in Khurda district.
Despite scorching heat of the mid-day, thousands awaited the arrival of the cine star-turned-politician at Narla.
Arriving about three hours late of her schedule, she urged upon the people to vote for the BJP as it has always worked for welfare of the state and KBK region in particular. “The BJP is giving due importance to uphold the dignity of the tribals and is emphasising on their uplift,” she said.
Describing Kandhamal episode as a "tragedy", she said that the unfortunate incidents took place because the dignity and interest of the tribals were affected.
“BJP is not the party of any particular sect or caste, rather the party serving all the caste, creed, community and religion, and always dreams of a developed India,” she said while appealing people to vote for BJP.
If the scorching heat could not be a deterrent for her admirers in Narla, heavy downpour failed to dampen the electorate’s spirit at Ramgiri village in Gajapati district.
Speaking for about 10 minutes to an enthusiastic audience of thousands, she appealed to vote for BJP and assured to come back if BJP is voted to power.
