Shillong , Mar 25 The Shillong bench of the Gauhati High Court today stayed the suspension of NCP MLA and deputy speaker of Meghalaya Assembly Sanbor Shullai.
" Justice Ashok Potsangban has today passed an interim order staying the interim order of the Speaker. The detail order would be passed tomorrow," Shullais lawyer Debojit Saikia said here.
The membership and voting right of Shullai has been restored, Saikia added.
Shullai had gone missing prior to the trust vote. His missing had added to the reducing strength of the ruling MPA, which was abandoned by two independents Limison Sangma and Ismail R Marak, HSPDP MLA Advisor Pariong and KHNAM MLA Paul Lyngdoh.
Five days ago the HC had given a similar verdict with respect to two of the five MLAs placed under interim suspension by Speaker B M Lanong ahead of the controversial trust vote on March 17.
All the five were suspended by the Speaker under the Anti-Defection Law.
