Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seems to be an ardent supporter of Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister’s job and says the Gandhi scion does not have to wait till the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to occupy the top post.

“Why would you assume, it (Rahul’s occupying the post) has to wait till 2014?” said Omar when asked if he thought the 38-year-old Gandhi scion will be ready for the top post by the next Lok Sabha elections. In an interview to NDTV, Omar, who is one of the youngest Chief Minister, cited the administrative experience of Rajiv Gandhi, who became the youngest Prime Minister of the country at the age of 40.

“How much administrative experience did Rajiv Gandhi had before he was thrust into the seat? How much administrative experience does (US President Barack) Obama have?”the 39-year-old chief minister asked.
In a lighter vein, Omar remarked that he had more experience than Obama.”I was a minister for three years.
