Guwahati, Apr 7 : Gauhati High Court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of two Independent MLAs who assaulted a forest official in Kaziranga National Park.

Hearing the bail applications, filed by the two MLAs-Jiten Gogoi of Bokakhat and Kushal Dowari of Thowra-Justice I A Ansari dismissed both the pleas.

The duo filed anticipatory bail pleas after they were charged with assaulting and threatening to kill Chief Range Officer of the park, Dharanidhar Boro and another employee on March 17 when asked to stop fishing inside KNP as it was prohibited.

KNP, a world heritage site, is the home to the highly endangered one-horn rhino.

The two surrendered ULFA (SULFA)-turned MLAs who supported the ruling Congress in the assembly, have been absconding since then.
