Kanpur, April 24 : The Congress-led government was determined to combat terrorism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said here Friday and charged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of promoting divisive politics.
'We have taken steps to strengthen our intelligence agencies with a special emphasis on their modernisation and training,' Manmohan Singh told an election rally.
Replying to the BJP's repeated charge that his government's response to the recent terrorist strikes was weak, the prime minister recalled the Kandahar plane hijack and the attacks on the Red Fort and the parliament complex and said: 'All these attacks took place in the BJP regime.'
He also said the BJP was indulging in the politics of 'divisiveness'.
On BJP and the Third Front, he said, 'Neither do they have any common programme nor they have farsightedness. Now you decide whom you should vote for.'
