Labels: ,
Guwahati, Mar 12 : In Assam, hectic parleys are on to form a third front to counter Congress and BJP alliances in the next month’s Parliamentary elections in the State.

Besides the Asom United Democratic Front (AUDF), the other parties in seat-sharing talks in the proposed Front are the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the CPM and the CPI.

The Bodoland People’s Progressive Front (BPPF) has also inched closer to this group.

The State is going to polls for the 14 Lok Sabha seats on 16th and 23rd of next month.

Meanwhile, the ruling Congress is likely to release the names of its candidates for 13 Lok Sabha seats by noon on Thursday.

The party has left the Kokrajhar parliamentary seat for the coalition partner Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

The AGP-BJP combine will contest in all the 14 seats. The Asom Gana Parishad has already released the list of its candidates for six parliamentary constituencies.

The BJP will contest in eight seats. However, the party is yet to finalize the names of the contestants.
