Maya rebuffs Third Front, will go alone

BSP to go it alone in all States during Lok Sabha polls, says Mayawati. No alliance with any party, she says.
Ruling out an alliance with any party for the Lok Sabha elections, BSP chief Mayawati today (March 15) indicated that the question of prime ministership will be decided with the Third Front parties after the elections in a bid to keep Congress-led UPA and BJP-led NDA out of power.

Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati said tonight’s dinner she is hosting for Third Front leaders will neither discuss the question of prime ministership nor the front’s electoral strategy, but would definitely discuss plans to keep UPA and NDA out of power. “We will definitely discuss the strategy of not allowing the UPA or NDA to come to power after the Lok Sabha elections,” says Mayawati.

“We will fight the elections on our own. We need to keep Congress out of power,” added Mayawati.

Three days after the third front was launched at a rally in Tumkur,BSP Chief Mayawati is all set to host a dinner party for the leaders of the non-Congress and non-BJP bloc at her residence in New Delhi later today.
The meeting is being seen as a move to pave the way for her Prime Ministerial aspirations. After sending an emissary for the launch of the third front, the UP Chief Minister had reportedly conveyed her ambition to lead a non-UPA, non-NDA govt at the centre to the other parties in the alliance.

While the leaders of four Left parties, TDP, TRS, JD(S) and AIADMK among others have consented to be present at the dinner meeting, the BJD, which recently snapped ties with BJP but kept away from Tumkur, is also expected to join the dinner meeting.
