Shillong(ABC Live): Donkupar Roy led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance government has won confidence vote with Speaker B M Lanong’s vote.Meghalaya Chief Minister faced the confidence motion after the withdrawal of support of three legislators, including KHNAM legislator Paul Lyngdoh.
Two Independents Ismail Marak and Limison Sangma also withdrew their support. After the suspension, the MPA has 28 MLAs while the Congress has 27 MLAs.
Earlier on Monday,Opposition Congress moved a no-confidence resolution for the removal of the Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Bindo M Lanong.The speaker belongs to the United Democratic Party, a major partner of the NCP-backed Meghalaya Progressive Alliance government.
Lanong has fixed 27th March for taking up the resolution against himself.
