Although there is some skepticism about its IT vision, the BJP is earnestly implementing technology into its organizational matters this election. The LK Advani-led BJP has already formed an information technology cell for the automation of its offices, and to attract IT professionals into its fold.
Speaking to CXOtoday, Prodyut Bora, national convenor IT of BJP, said that the party is working to automate its offices throughout the country and has appointed more than 15 state IT convenors to oversee operations on a regional basis.
Commenting on the IT-driven organizational roadmap, Bora said, "We'll put in place a storage area network (SAN), create a party membership database of all ordinary members, covering about 20 million records; and develop a profile management database of around 4 million active members."
Plans are afoot to build a Single Sign-on System (SSO) and a digital library. The party's IT cell has already set up a National Data Center (NDC) in Delhi, as well as implemented a radio frequency (RF) based Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) in the NCR, according to Bora.
