Patna, Mar 25 : Terming the BJP 'anti-dalit', sitting party MP from Arariya Lok Sabha seat Sukdev Paswan today resigned from the party’s primary membership.
Mr Paswan told UNI over telephone from New Delhi that the BJP had deviated from its ideologies and was patronising caste system.
In his resignation letter, addressed to BJP national president Rajnath Singh, copy of which was sent to other senior laders of the party, Mr Paswan said the party had assured of fielding him from Arariya Lok Sabha seat even after delimitation.
The party, however, ”humiliated” Dalits by denying him a ticket from Arariya, he added.
Mr Paswan further said keeping in mind the support of the people he would contest from Arariya seat.
After delimitation, Arariya had been placed under general catagory seat, following which the BJP fielded its MLA Pradeep Singh from there.
Earlier, Mr Paswan represented this seat, which was under reserved category for the past five terms.
