BJP did better than Cong, and SP than BSP on SC seats in 2004

New Delhi, The BJP had done distinctly better than its main rival Congress in the constituencies reserved for the Scheduled Castes in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Samajwadi Party(SP), CPI(M) and the BSP followed them but their numbers came mainly from the state where they originated, while the gains of the Congress and BJP in these constituencies were distributed all over the country.
The BJP had won 18 SC seats in the 2004 hustings as gainst 14 of the Congress. The BJP had got four seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two each in Gujarat, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, three in Uttar Pradesh and one in Bihar.
The highest number of victories in the reserved constituencies came to the Congress from Andhra Pradesh where it had got five seats. The party won two SC seats in Haryana and one each in Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
