New Delhi, Mar 6 : While the BJP is yet to finalize the seat sharing arrangements with its alliance partners JD(U) and BJD in Bihar and Orissa respectively, it got a huge relief today after completing the seat sharing agreement with Shiv Sena (Maharashtra) and AGP (Assam). While the BJP will contest from 26 seats in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena will get 22. In Assam, the BJP will contest from 8 seats. The remaining six seats will go to the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
The BJP-AGP combine is tipped to do well in Assam in the forthcoming general elections, as the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in Assam has become very unpopular in the past few years. The anti-incumbency factor against the Congress, may help the BJP and AGP to win the maximum number of seats in the state.
