Shillong, Feb 19 : Meghalaya's Mining and Geology Minister Donkupar Massar has threatened to withdraw support to the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA) government if his wife was not inducted to the new executive committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Massar's wife Grace Mary Kharpuri was the lone Independent candidate elected in the recent poll of KHADC. She won from Nongshken constituency, an assembly seat represented by her husband.
Four cases have been registered against Massar for allegedly assaulting voters during the polling on February 10 at Nongshken.
Indicating that he might pull out of Donkupar Roy government if Kharpuri was not given a berth in the executive committee (EC) in the new KHADC, Massar said yesterday that he would wait for sometime before deciding his future course of action as he was not yet given to understand whether his wife would be an executive member.
The new KHADC was formed by the Khasi Hills Progressive Alliance (KHPA) - a conglomeration of the members of district council (MDC) from UDP, KHNAM, NCP, HSPDP and the Independent member.
