Silvasa, Feb 5 : Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday while addressing a rally in the Silvasa district of Gujarat asserted that India was ready to give a befitting reply to Pakistan.

She said that terrorism remained a big challenge for India but also added that Pakistan must not undermine India’s capability to fight terror as India was confident enough to defeat it.

While vehemently lashing out at Pakistan, the UPA chairperson stated "India's neighbours wanted to weaken us and destroy our unity and brotherhood." She added that perhaps they didn’t know that we shall effectively counter all their motives.

Besides this, she also spoke about issues pertaining to development like the decision by the government to give land rights to the tribals, loan relief given to farmers and also a reduction in the price of electricity owing to expansion of power generation due to the signing of the safeguards agreement with the IAEA.

Yesterday, Sonia had addressed a similar rally in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur wherein she had castigated terror-spreading forces.
