Kohima, Dec 17 : Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio while expressing that politicians can only provide ‘external peace’ through developmental activities, has said that the ‘true internal peace’ comes from God.
Greeting the people of Nagaland on this festive season as part of the Nagaland Legislators Pre-Christmas Celebration at state Banquet Hall in Kohima last night, Rio said politicians, as elected members are the most blessed to serve mankind and God.
He also said that Christmas season is special to every believer, adding that while the government can do only some developmental activities for external peace the real peace comes from God. Quoting the popular adage “Service to mankind is service to God”, he urged upon the Naga legislators to rededicate themselves in the service of the people by committing themselves to God.
Maintaining that politicians want to do many things and they do and therefore they face criticism, he challenged politicians to take criticisms sportily and carry on the works.
Delivering the last Christmas message as the Nagaland Chaplain on the theme ‘The Saviour’, Rev. Deo Vihienuo said ‘despite all the disturbances and anti-social activities there is good tidings of great joy for all of us. He reaffirmed that Jesus Christ is the answer for all the needs on the earth.
“His (Jesus) birth was to die and His dead was for redemption of mankind from sin,” he said adding that He came to the earth to bring forgiveness and love to one another. Therefore, he challenged everyone to come closer to God and give peace and love from one’s heart and soul as Christmas gift to Him.
