Kohima, Dec 15 : A delegation of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee led by its president KV Pusa met Sonia Gandhi, president of the AICC on Saturday in New Delhi.
The NPCC is said to have apprised the UPA chairman about the Naga political issue. The NPCC urged her to take up the matter with the government of India to expedite the Naga peace negotiations for an honorable solution.
Sonia Gandhi also reportedly ‘shared her concern’ for the Naga people ‘who are suffering immensely due to the prolonged insurgency in the state’, said NPCC general secretary Medokul Sophie.
Other points of discussions like the party’s organizational matters and strategies under the new team were also explained in detail to her, the general secretary said.
The AICC president expressed her satisfaction over the functioning of the PCC in Nagaland and extended her best wishes and support to the party’s endeavor to strengthen its base at all levels in the state, NPCC said.
