Fans of Sourav Ganguly agitating against IPLs Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan for not selecting Sourav Ganguly in the team at Howrah district in West Bengal on Monday.Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has described Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as "opportunistic" for insulting Sourav Ganguly.
In an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray said the actor, who considers himself a 'badshah', has shown his opportunistic face before the people by not buying Ganguly during the IPL auction 2011.
Shah Rukh used Ganguly’s name and fame when he was going through the bad phase in Bollywood. He earned crores by using Ganguly in his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders:
“Shah Rukh booted Ganguly out of the team following KKR became a profitable franchise.”
Thackeray said that insulting Ganguly was a bigger crime than shooting some one.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was up for the IPL auction 2011but there was no buyer in the Great Cricket Bazaar, held in Bangalore on January 8 and January 9.
This is not the first time when Shiv Sena Supremo targeted SRK. Earlier, he lashed out at the Bollywood superstar for participating in an entertainment show to raise funds for Pakistani flood victims in London on November 28.
On the other hand, Ganguly’s fans also burnt effigy of Shah Rukh.
